Editing an Existing Pie Chart to Make a Different One with ThePie

Below is a pie chart of the vote resultes of the 2015 UK General Elections by vote. This tutorial will show how to edit this chart with ThePie to produce a chart of the results of the same elections by the number of parliamentary seats.

Changing the name of a pie creates another pie with the new name but the same data.

So we change the pie name to "Elections 2015 Seats", and then change the total to "650" and note that the percentages and the graph have not changed, but the values have changed proportionately to fit the new smaller total. (Changing to a grater total leaves the values the same, but unassigned arrea is added and precentages are adjusted accordingly).

Now delete "The Rest" slice as we do not know what it will be and want it to be worked out automatically when the other slices are all added.

Then start entering the data by entering the smaller values first, so as to keep space vacant without overrunning the total. Then add "The Rest" from the unused space.

Here we see that by re-using a similar chart we only had to change the total and the values, as the names and the colors remained the same.
